Yuichiro Oda: East Blues (2011)

YUICHIRO ODA was born in Kagoshima, Japan. He started playing the guitar when he was 10 years old. He discovered a love for music and became proficient in such styles as pop, jazz and classical at an early age. He created unique guitar playing method called "Flashing Sword". In 1992 he performed for an audience of 1,700,000 at "Tokyo Fire Work Festival" with jazz legends such as Walter Bishop Jr. who's an original member of Charlie Parker Band, Paul Jackson Jr. who was playing with Sarah Vaughan for over 20 years, and Alan Chip White who's an original member of Tom Waits Band. His first album, "ODA 1” was produced by George Duke and ODA collaborated with legends such as Tom Scott, Ernie Watts, Louis Johnson, and Larry Carlton in the album. He was invited to "Finland Airlines Europe Jazz Festival" in 1996 and 1999. In 1999 He moved to New Jersey, U.S.A.. and he built his own recording studio. In 2000 BMG released his greatest hits album, "The Best of ODA". He performed for Nippon Club Charity Fund Raiser in New York City in 2002. Oda was a featured guest artist for "Philadelphia Film Festival" in 2003. In 2005 he started touring with his band. In Japan he's known as a composer. In early 80’s he established an outstanding sales base and earned national recognition. His first big hit "American Feeling” was chosen by Ministry of Education to be part of the authorized music taught to Japanese students. Oda shared his song writing and producing talents with many artists including: Ryuichi Sakamoto, Seiko Matsuda, Anri, Toshihiko Tahara, and Hidemi Ishikawa. Oda has also composed songs for feature films, TV programs, and animations. In 1982 his song "Dirty Hero" sung by Rosemary Buttler was included in a feature film produced by a major motion picture company, Kadokawa. In 1992 he composed and performed “Hizashi(Little sunshine)” for Fuji Sankei Group’s 40tth Anniversary Event “MOMA (New York Museum of Modern Art).
